3 Reasons to Upload Video to YouTube Regularly

We often get asked, “How often should we ‘do’ online video?”  I usually assume the inquisitor is asking me how frequently he/she should post videos on YouTube.  For example, is once a month enough?  Or twice weekly?

While there’s no hard and fast rule, or even a guideline that can be applied across all industries, I can give you a few reasons why you should post video to YouTube as often as possible.

1.) Your viewers will learn to anticipate and expect your online video content if you are consistent.  If your viewers learn that you post a video every Tuesday and Thursday, for example, they will build a habit of coming back and checking for new videos.  You don’t want to let them down; it takes 21 days to build a habit, but how many to break it?

2.) YouTube will show new videos (24 hours or younger) at the top of search engine page results (SERPs).  So it stands to reason, for example, that if you could post a video every day with similar relevant keywords that are not already highly competitive, you could dominate a niche just by have a new video at the top of YouTube SERPs every day.

3.) Search Engines like Google and Yahoo love fresh content.  I am no SEO expert, but I understand that the search bots will return for the same reason your viewers come back- because they anticipate something new.  If it’s not there, you better believe they’re not going to check in again for a while.
