When Douglas Karr, of DK New Media, asked if we could produce a video to help promote his new book, Corporate Blogging for Dummies, I knew we were going to be in for a fun ride. On a Thursday afternoon, we met Doug and his co-author Chantelle Flannery at their new office in downtown Indianapolis and started catching up and cutting up right away. Doug shared his idea for a Businessman Baboon Butt Syndrome video, which is still in the formative stages, but the video at hand was tackled easily and enjoyably as both pros laid out the facts about corporate blogging success and failure.
My favorite thing about the finished videos for the Corporate Blogging Tips website is the way both subjects are so natural and authentic. For example, at the very beginning of Doug’s video, he slips up and starts to say “corporate blogs” when he means “professional blogs” but recovers without missing a beat. It shows how authentic and honest he’s being. Neither Doug or Chantelle had any kind of script for these videos; they simply talked to me like real people, sharing great info, as if we just happened to be capturing it on camera.
