YouTube is a reliable way to get your content in front of a wide audience, but it’s not as simple as clicking ‘Upload’ and walking away. People just like you spend tons of time learning how to properly format and optimize their YouTube videos to pick up subscribers on their channel. It’s called Video SEO, and it’s one way to spread the word about your videos.
The relatively ironic thing about YouTube is that in order to pick up a lot of views, you must already have a lot of views. To get higher search rankings and more appearances in the “Related Videos” section, you must have a decent amount of video views. Sure, it must be nice to have over 100,000 YouTube subscribers, but not all of us have that kind of influence or the patience for cultivating a huge following on YouTube itself.
So how do you increase your video’s views without spending all of your time on YouTube?
One of our favorite solutions is pretty simple: Guest Blogging.
When you guest blog for someone and include your own snazzy video, the blog’s readers will be then exposed to your video. If you’re guest writing for a blog that rarely sees video content, then you’d better believe your video will be remembered by regular readers. There’s something about actually hearing someone’s voice or seeing a face that will leave more of an imprint on someone’s memory than written content. Additionally, if you embed the YouTube version of your video on the blog, any views you get there will count toward your total back on YouTube.
In other words, guest blogging is a great way to get yourself in front of a new audience while building up your view count. Your new viewers will give you the benefit of the doubt since they’ve found you on a site they trust, so make it count. Provide them with some truly great video content, and the rest will take care of itself.
